Translucent silk chiffon is printed and woven with bold
turquoise and white stripes and tiny pink and green
blossoms in this romantic summer evening dress designed
by Sir Norman Hartnell, the Official Dressmaker to Queen
Elizabeth II.
A
flattering low neckline is softened further by a
generous double ruffled collar. The unlined chiffon
sleeves have a matching ruffle trimmed cuff. There are
three fabric covered buttons above the fitted waistline,
and a zipper in the skirt lining below. The gently
gathered full skirt has a deep ruffle starting just
below the knee. A fabric covered leather belt completes
the outfit.
The entire
dress, with the exception of the sleeves, is lined in
white China silk. The skirt lining has a deep ruffle
matching the dress. The label reads Hartnell, Le Petit
Salon, 26 Bruton St. London.
This
beautiful dress is in excellent, wearable condition, but
the belt buckle does show some slight signs of wear.
