Patou Couture & Lacroix Couture
Amazingly a Jean Patou, Paris numbered
couture quilted satin jacket from the 1960's
is a near perfect match for a Christian
Lacroix numbered couture satin skirt from
the 1990's.
The jacket is designed in a classic early
1960's style. Karl Lagerfeld was designing
at Patou at this time. It is collarless and
without closures, waist length, the only
ornamentation the round satin buttons on the
sleeves. The body of the jacket is
beautifully quilted in a diamond pattern,
the sleeves are not quilted. The jacket is
lined in cream colored silk and bears the
numbered couture label at the center back.
It is in very good but not perfect
condition, there are a few very faint spots
on the back of the sleeves, between the
elbow and the wrist.
Ironically, Christian Lacroix worked at
Patou before opening his own Couture and
Ready-to-Wear business in 1987. This skirt
is designed in the wrap style and it has a
wide waistband with snaps and hooks for
closures. The skirt is gently gathered and
there are three deep gathers at the center
front. The hemline is shorter at the front
for added interest. The skirt is fully lined
in cream satin with the numbered couture
label at the center back. It is in pristine
condition.
