Givenchy Haute Couture Suede Coat
Surely Givenchy must have been
influenced by the street fashions of
the hippies in the early 1970's when
he designed this unusual suede coat
from the Haute Couture collections.
Chamois colored suede appears to be
laced together at the shoulders and
the waistline. This lacing is
repeated around the collarless
neckline, on the front of the coat,
at the hemline and on the sleeves.
There are two pockets and they also
have the lacing detail. A long flat
belt is decorated with the lacing on
both sides and has a generous fringe
at each end. This is the ultimate in
"rich hippie" fashion.
The coat is lined in a matching silk
and the numbered couture label is at
the center back. This highly unusual
piece is in excellent condition, it
is from the estate of a member of
the International Best Dressed List
and provenance will be provided.
