Lanvin Haute Couture Coat, 1940's
Jeanne Lanvin designed this coat in
the early 1940's. Even though her
business suffered during World War
II she remained open and continued
to design. This coat is a rare
example from that period.
Fashioned from a cheerful red, grey
and black on cream, the wool plaid
coat has a wide collar, deep cuffs,
and pockets concealed in the seams.
It is unlined and there are no
closures, lending a casual, sporty
air to the garment. The couture
label is in the left side seam.
This coat comes from the estate of a
member of the International Best
Dressed List and full provenance
will be provided. It is in excellent
condition.
