Ceil Chapman Dinner Dress

Ceil Chapman was a very successful American dress designer in the mid 20h century. She specialized in dresses that were very feminine and extremely flattering.

Designed in the 1950's this dress is feminine, flattering and easy to wear. The ruching of the black taffeta is the only ornamentation for this elegant dress. A square neckline, pointed cap sleeves and a fitted waist are in perfect balance with the full skirt. The construction is quite ingenious, eight panels of fabric are seamed vertically. They are narrow through the bodice and widen as they descend, adding fullness to the skirt. The hem is a 6" band of black taffeta. There is a metal side zipper and the dress is fully lined.

This elegant, ladylike vintage dress is in excellent condition.
