Pedro Rodriguez Coat
Spanish Haute Couture
started with the work of designer Pedro Rodriguez. His design line
conformed to the very specific standards set by the French Couture.
Rodriguez is
credited with introducing the New Look to Spain. A contemporary of
Balenciaga he was famous for his use of luxurious materials, he
placed great emphasis on design, and as a result his clothing had a
truly sumptuous quality.
Rodriguez selected
a brilliant electric blue wool for this glamorous mid-century
coat. It is collarless, with 3/4 length sleeves, the only adornment
large pockets placed dramatically over each hip. These pockets are
decorated with large black buttons, matching the ones used for the
coat front closure.
The coat has a
horizontal seam at the upper back, allowing for more drape and
fullness in the skirt. The pockets and the hem are inner lined with
buckram to keep their exaggerated shape. The coat is lined with
white taffeta.
Add a pair of long
black gloves and the black boots or heels of your choice for a very
dramatic and contemporary look. This striking vintage couture coat
is in pristine condition.
