Anne Fogarty Red Velvet Coat
Clean lines, light weight
velveteen, great red color, and gold embroidery are the essential
elements in this easy to wear Anne Fogarty coat from the 1950's.
Winner of the Coty
Award in 1951, Anne Fogarty clothes were often very simple in their
design. This coat is an excellent example. The fabric is embellished
with lustrous gold thread but the coat itself is quite understated. A
simple shawl collar, no closures, long sleeves without cuffs, and two
pockets hidden in the side seams complete the design. This coat is
beautifully lined in red satin.
The timeless style of
the coat would work well over a cocktail dress, tailored pants or even
jeans. The coat is in excellent vintage condition.
