Hermes Black
Crocodile Train Case
This
luxurious Hermes black crocodile train case dates to
the mid 1950's and it is from the estate of a titled
French woman. Her gold coronet and initials are on
the top of this lovely bag.
The
ultimate luxury leather goods are hand made by
Hermes in Paris, and the best of the best are the
crocodile pieces. This handmade bag retains the
original carrying case or dust bag, which is why it
remains in such pristine condition. The skins are
lustrous, supple and glossy. The hardware is almost
mint. The bottom of the bag has four brass feet to
protect the exotic skins. This glamorous vintage bag
from Hermes was truly treasured by the former owner.
The
interior of the bag is marked Hermes, Paris. [They
did not say Made in France until the mid 1970's].
Deep red leather lines the interior compartment,
there are two leather straps supporting the top,
which is also lined in red leather. There are a few
minor marks on the interior, to be expected and
consistent with normal use. At some point the
smaller original mirror was replaced with a beveled
glass mirror that fills the entire top portion.
This mirror has lost some silver over the years
where the glue was applied to hold it in place.
The
exterior of the bag was protected by a grey canvas
cover, trimmed in black crocodile. This snaps in
place and folds over the handle for full coverage
and protection. This glamorous vintage Hermes bag
is in excellent condition.
