Bernard
Perris Coat
This
Space Age coat from the 1970's was designed by
Bernard Perris and Made in France. Do you think
that it is just a coincidence that the coat is the
"Apollo" model?
Bernard Perris worked as a design assistant under
Marc Bohan, Guy Laroche and Jacques Heim before
starting his own company in 1969. He is known for
dramatic and theatrical designs, and The Musee des
Decoratifs in Paris held an exhibition of his
designs in 1988.
Creamy white wool is accented by dark chocolate
brown bands of vinyl. This is channel quilted and
used at the yoke, cuffs and hemline. The lining of
the coat is brown and white corresponding to the
fabric on the outside. There are three large
brown hooks and eyes at the bodice and two pockets
at the side seams. Copious amounts of hand
stitching are apparent in this garment. The coat
still retains the original price tag and it is in
excellent condition.
