Malcolm
Starr was a company that specialized in beaded clothing,
which was so popular during the 1960's, and Elinor
Simmons was their designer.
This
midnight blue silk crepe tunic and pants outfit is
covered with silver sequins and beads of all shapes and
sizes. It reminds me of stars in the night sky.
The
collarless tunic has long sleeve and a metal zipper at
the center back. The neckline, cuffs and hemline are
edged with a distinctive pattern of beadwork.
The
trousers have no waistband for a slimmer look. There is
a center back metal zipper, and straight cut legs.. The
trouser hem is edged in the same beaded pattern as the
tunic top.
These
elegant pieces can be worn together or separately. The
pants would be fabulous with a cashmere sweater and bold
silver jewelry.
Both
pieces are in excellent condition.
