Lush and lavish cream silk hand embroidery creates a striking and contemporary look in this generously sized Chinese silk coat made for the Western market in the early part of the 20th century.

The large embroidered motifs on the front and back of the garment show Chinese men, women and children engaged in various activities. They are fishing, feeding ducks, waving flags, all surrounded by embroidered boats, bridges, pagodas and temples. Exotic butterflies, birds, flowers and trees complete the design on this stunning robe.

There are two black silk covered buttons and loops for closure. The garment is lined with cream colored China silk and it is in excellent condition.
