Irish Lace Two Piece Dress

Irish lace or Irish crochet, by whatever name you call it, call this one the best of the best.  I have never seen such a fine example of this hand made lace.

This stunning dress was hand made in Ireland circa 1900.  The skilled lace maker was a true artisan, incorporating all of the important design elements into this two piece dress. There are large and varied motifs, three dimensional flowers, and panels of delicate crochet on the bodice and sleeves.

The bodice has a high neck, full sleeves with deep cuffs , and a generous peplum. It closes at the center back with a series of concealed hooks and eyes.  This piece can be worn separately with a skirt or trousers for a more contemporary look.

The skirt is a masterpiece, the design worked with only a single barely discernable center back seam.  The large motifs, many of which are three dimensional are connected by brides.  There is a fitted waistband, hooks and eyes at the center back, and a slight train to complete the ultra feminine look of the hand made Irish lace dress.  All cotton, it has been freshly hand laundered and it is in pristine condition.
