I could not resist the unusual color combination used in this hand embroidered kimono from Japan.  The sophisticated charcoal grey silk is a perfect backdrop for the snowy white silk embroidery.

A dragon is the focal point of the design, surrounded by large scale chrysanthemums and cloud like designs.  The embroidery is tight and of fine quality, enhanced by silver and gold metallic thread accents.  Trailing vines of flowers rise up over the shoulders and blossom on the front of the kimono.  There is a matching grey silk sash and the lining is white. This would look very modern paired with grey flannel trousers for a casual evening look.  The kimono is in excellent condition.
