A stunning
combination of hand made Irish lace, mixed lace and
embroidery are used to create this hand made dress from the
1920's.
Truly a dress
that can be worn and enjoyed on more than one occasion,
unlike so many of the more formal Victorian Irish lace
gowns, this is a dress to treasure.
The simple
flapper dress style of the 1920's allows the intricacy of
the lace to predominate. A simple scoop neckline, short
sleeves and gathered panels on the hips are the basic design
elements. Cream colored, three dimensional Irish lace is
used for the yoke and center panels, both front and back.
Embroidered
cotton and lace are mixed with a very fine Irish lace in the
skirt and at the shoulders. The combination of laces is all
hand sewn, and it is quite striking.
This
elegant Irish lace dress is in excellent condition.
